The Best Pictures (so far)

I wanted you all to see how freakin' lucky we are to have this girl. She should be a model. No, seriously she should. She's never had a bad picture. All of the professional pictures that she's had taken have been at JC Penny's (well, with one exception which will be left unmentioned). I've been really happy with Penny's especially this time. She had so much fun with the props. If you're wondering, the bear belongs to Mina and her name is Daria. I'll tell you about her later.

A Quick Update

I went back to the OB/GYN yesterday for the results of the biopsy. There's nothing to worry about, nothing life threatening. I just have to go every 6 months for a routine papsmear for the next 2 years. It's just to make sure everything stays ok. I can still have babies and I'm healthy so I'm OK. I did however find out that since I'm still nursing, getting pregnant is a hit or miss. As soon as I stop nursing, it will be easier to have another one. We're still trying and if it doesn't work then we'll see what happens as soon as Mina's ready to be on her own.

Who's Your Dadadadbababadadada?

Monday afternoon I had to take an hour and a half lunch because I was working open to close. I decided to go home and visit with Mina and Jose. Everything was fine while I was there (even changed a diaper). Maybe an hour after I got back to work, Jose called me. "Listen to your daughter." I hear Mina in the background having a conversation (in baby language, of course!) But I could actually make out one word that she was saying. She said "Da Da!" I couldn't believe it. Jose couldn't have been happier. I think he was more excited than I was when she first said "ma ma." Our little girl is growing up so fast. Now she won't stop saying "da da." She looks so cute when she says it too. I'm a little weirded out because next she'll be saying her first word. I'm looking forward to it but I just can't believe that we're already to this point. IT'S ONLY BEEN 8 1/2 MONTHS!!!! It's going by too fast.

Getting In Touch With Your Heritage at 8 1/2 Months Old

Last night we're sitting at the table eating dinner. Mina was getting fussy so Jose picked her up and held her in his lap while he finished eating. She kept eyeing his food so he gave her a little piece of tortilla. She seemed content until she saw him drink his Kool-Aide. Everytime he brought the glass close to her she opened her mouth expecting to get some. So they took turns drinking Kool-Aide. And as she waited for her turn, she sucked on her little piece of tortilla. It was the cutest thing. We were joking that she's in touch with her Black and Mexican sides already. Now she just needs to like something that will bring out her White side.

An Unexpected Result

About three weeks ago, I finally went in to have my first papsmear since having Mina. I was fine with it because I've always had normal results, so you can imagine my shock when they wanted me to call them back. If you didn't guess already, my results came back abnormal. I cried while I was talking to my mom because it hit me that something could be wrong. I went online to see what could cause the abnormal results and what I found wasn't very reassuring. I have to schedule another visit so the doctor can perform a colposcopy. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried but I'm hoping for the best. As long as it's nothing life threatening and I can still have kids than I'll be ok. Until the results...

Mommy Freakout #3

I feel like the worst mommy ever. Saturday morning Mina was sitting on the bed playing while Jose was sleeping and I was in and out of sleep myself. All of a sudden Jose and I were woken up by a loud thud and screaming. I jumped out of bed and realized that Mina was no where to be seen. I walked to the edge of the bed and there she was sprawled out on her back crying. She obviously had crawled all the way to the edge of the bed and flipped off of it. Jose immediately picked her up and we checked to make sure that nothing was broken. Funny thing: there were no tears. She wasn't crying. She was just really freaked out because she had no idea what had happened. I felt so horrible. My mom warned me that once she started crawling that I would have to watch her like a hawk. I'm just glad she's ok and didn't hurt herself.
